THE IMPORTANCE OF PLANNING A REST DAY ROUTINE

It's no secret that establishing a training program is crucial to improving performance and reaching your goals. However, some athletes still mistakenly believe that the more they train the better.

Today we are going to share with you the importance of planning a rest day, so read on!

1. Reduce muscle fatigue

Taking rest days at the right time is just as important as the training itself. By keeping rest days at the right time, you will stimulate your muscles to grow optimally, while reducing muscle fatigue.

This is because high-intensity training creates two types of stress on your muscles: metabolic stress (which comes from depleting the energy stored in individual muscle cells) and mechanical stress (created by physical damage to muscle protein structures).

It is during the recovery period that the body repairs muscle proteins and replaces glycogen. The rest day will replenish your muscles, reduce muscle fatigue and improve your performance.

So having too few rest days or none at all can lead toovertraining, causing counterproductive results, such as injuries. On the contrary, too much rest can cancel out the effect of training, so you need to think carefully about planning your workouts and rest days to find the perfect balance for you!

We recommend that you have at least one rest day per week.

2. Rest the mind

Some people think that taking a rest day after a strenuous workout or physical activity is laziness, but that's just not true!

Dealing with a tough workout requires mental toughness and stamina, which means that physical exertion isn't just hard on your body, it's also intense on your brain!

Spending a day away from your workouts can give you a psychological break and help your mind relax, allowing it to recover along with your muscles.

3. Do other things you love

We know that working out is important for you, but it's just as important to take time for yourself and do the things you love.

Take that day off to spend extra time with your loved ones. Learn or practice a musical instrument, get a head start on your next big project, finish reading that book you started, watch your favorite show, or enjoy your own company!

Tell yourself that you are not lazy, but rather focused on the recovery phase of your workout program. A well-designed exercise program will help you reach your goals and increase your performance!
